Search Hints

There are three separate searches which cannot be used simultaneously with each other:

• Keyword 
• Vendor 
• Category

Keyword Search

The Keyword search, when using Description keywords, performs an internet style search where a large number of items may be returned, but they are sorted to show the items with the best match first.

Keywords may be entered into any of the four fields simultaneously.

It is most efficient to enter a keyword in the Levitt Part Number or Manufacturer's Part Number field as part of your search criteria whenever possible, even if you only know part of a number, as this will greatly improve search performance.

Description

• None, or up to four keywords may be entered 
• Partial words are accepted 
• The greater the number of words, the longer the search 
• Matches are returned in best match order

Manufacturer's Name

• None, or one keyword may be entered 
• The search results will be strictly limited to the manufacturer's products 
• Partial names may be entered, but this may result in multiple manufacturers being selected

Levitt Part Number

• None or one keyword may be entered 
• Partial numbers are accepted 
• The search looks anywhere in the part number for the keyword 
• The search results will be strictly limited to products matching the keyword 
• This search is fast and efficient and should be used where possible

Manufacturer's Part Number

• None or one keyword may be entered 
• Partial numbers are accepted 
• The search looks anywhere in the part number for the keyword 
• The search results will be strictly limited to products matching the keyword 
• This search is fast and efficient and should be used where possible

Vendor Search

The vendor search is a specialized high speed search that displays all products for the selected vendor.

• You can select only one vendor from the drop down box then click "Show Me"
• In the drop down box you can key a letter and the cursor will move to the first vendor starting with that letter.
• Vendors selected here have no effect on the Keyword Search function
• This search is very fast

Category Search

The category search is a specialized high speed search that displays all products for the selected product category.

• You can select only one category from the drop down box then click "Show Me"
• In the drop down box you can key a letter and the cursor will move to the first category starting with that letter
• This has no effect on the Keyword Search function
• There is no need to drill down, just read the list and determine the exact category you need
• This search is very fast
